Thanksgiving Food Delivery

11/24/2022: Continuing the tradition of previous years, CALex organized volunteers to help the Lions Club deliver Thanksgiving meals to senior residents. This year, more than 110 residents in more than 70 households received Thanksgiving lunch. LexObserver news report.

10/02/2022: CALex members attended the  memorial service for Pat Flynn, a longtime Lexington resident and World War II veteran.

❀ New School Year Welcome Meeting

❀ Send Moon Cakes to Senior Citizens in Boston Chinatown

❀ Summer Sports Team – Ice Cream Social

08/30/2022: Embrace the new school year and meet new friends. LexYouth and Student Corp Lexington Minuteman Chapter co-organized the Ice Cream Social tonight, giving awards to those who performed well in the summer sports play group, meeting old and new friends as well as free ice cream and surprise gifts.

❀ Honor Senator George Frisbie Hoar

08/27/2022: CALex joined others in Concord to honor US Senator George Frisbie Hoar. The Chinese Exclusion Act was passed in 1882 for a period of 20 years. The vote was to extend it indefinitely when it expired in 1902, and George Frisbie Hoar was the only senator to vote against it.

❀ LCC Garden Cleaning

08/13/2022: This afternoon, the Chinese Garden Club organized a weeding and cleaning activity in the small garden of the Lexington Community Center. LexYouth volunteers actively participated. After the cleaning, the organizers distributed seeds, vegetables, and fruits that they had planted.

❀ LexYouth Chess Simul

08/14/2022: FutureChessMaster.com, parent volunteer Dihua and LexYouth jointly held a chess simul, which was very successful. Thank you to the organizers, LexYouth players, children, and parents!

❀ Second Quock Walker Day Hike for Freedom

07/09/2022: the Association of Black Citizens of Lexington
(ABCL) hosted the second annual Quock Walker Day Hike for Freedom. This
inter-generational event is an opportunity for Lexington residents and other friends of liberty to celebrate Massachusetts Emancipation Day while enjoying the sites along ACROSS Lexington Route M. CALex members joined the activity.

07/06/2022: Summer running and outdoor sports group organized by Student Corp Lexington Minuteman Chapter and LexYouth will meet you this summer. Friends of all ages are welcome to participate in our outdoor activities and meet new friends.

❀  Chess Learning  & Competition seminar

06/23/2022: A CALex member shared his son’s experiences in  learning chess and participating in competitions with a group of interested Lexington parents.

❀ Kids’ Charity Sale

06/18/2022: CALex and LexKids held a kids’ charity sale to help children learn how to use old things to create new value and develop business ideas. This event focuses on exercising and demonstrating children’s abilities. Official report.

❀ LCC  Garden Beautification

06/11/2022:  Five LexYouth volunteers ranging from 3rd graders to 10th graders participated in a Lexington Community Center beautification project. They helped load the wheelbarrows, spread the mulch, and weed the flower bed. While busy working on garden cleaning, they’ve learned about effective ways of maintaining the garden.

05/19/2022: To celebrate the AAPI heritage moth, CALex held the second Annual My American Story, during which seven Asian-American panelists who have deep roots in Lexington shared their American stories 

❀ Buffalo Shooting Vigil

05/15/2022: A core CALex member joined other Lexington organizations and residents for a vigil for the recent Buffalo shooting.

❀ 2022 Patriots Day Parade

04/18/2022: This year’s Patriots Day parade in Lexington was unprecedentedly lively. CALex and LexYouth parades were rich in content and color. The bright-red lion was stepping on the drum to take the lead. Musicians of all ages on the float played all the way. There were also nearly a hundred people marching with the dragon and lions. 04/18/2022: A key CALex member gave a speech at the 80th Anniversary of Doolittle Raid.

❀ Meeting with the DEI director and the New Police Chief

03/11/2022: A few key CALex members were invited by the Lexington DEI Director Martha to meet with the newly appointed Police Chief McLean to discuss how to connect and work together.

❀ Greater Boston Car Parade 

02/27/2022: To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, the 2nd Annual Greater Boston Chinese/Lunar New Year Rolling Car Parade took place on Sunday, February 27, 2022. CALex and LexYouth is the proud partner of this event. CALex and LexYouth participated in the parade through 12 towns around Boston. At the invitation of CALex, Suzie Barry and Joe Pato of the Select Board, as well as the Police Chief Mike McClean and Officer Mike Barry were also at Depot Square to celebrate.

 

❀ Ukraine Relief Fundraising

02/26/2022: recently, the flames of war have risen in Ukraine. CALex and LexYouth jointly call on all Chinese Americans in the Boston area to please lend a helping hand to Ukraine people. CALex official account report.

2022 Town Election Candidate Forum

02/12/2022: CALex and IGIG co-hosted a town election candidate forum。In the meeting, the three School Committee candidates (Eileen, Larry, Salvador) introduced themselves and discussed about excellent education and curriculum improvement etc. CALex official account report。

LHS Course Selection Seminar

02/12/2022: CALex partnered with Diyi Holdings Company, the American Education and Thinking Academy, and the non-profit organization Weebond Academy, held a course selection seminar for LHS students on February 12th. Current and past students answered many questions from 8th grade students.

In memory of Dr. Xinqin Fang

01/18/2022:  Dr. Fang had lived in Lexington for many years, and made great achievements in medicinal chemistry research. More than ten years ago, he devoted himself to the cause of mathematics tutoring and became a top teacher in mathematics competitions. Dr. Fang unfortunately passed away in September last year. This article is in memory of him.

❀ Provide Free Emergency KN95 masks to Lexington Students

01/03/2022: The Lexington Superintendent issued a letter suggesting that teachers and students wear KN95 masks in schools. We learned that some community members do not have KN95 masks, and some of the purchased KN95  masks could not be delivered in time. CALex had some backup KN95 masks, and an enthusiastic friend donated some additional ones. CALex members acted quickly to provide nearly 800 masks to the community members in need for emergency usage.
