CALex Update on PPE donations to Lahey ER and Lexington Pediatrics

After making the first donation to Brigham Women’s Hospital on March 23, 2020, the CALex volunteers continued their tireless efforts to prepare additional donations. In observing the social distancing advisory, a make-shift collection site was set up for the community to drop off PPEs.

It is critical in getting PPEs to hospitals and healthcare professionals as soon as possible. CALex’s volunteers worked through the midnight of March 24, 2020 in collecting, sorting, packing donated items for a prompt delivery to Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), Burlington Emergency Room, on March 25, 2020, the closest comprehensive health care provider to the Lexington community. The donation includes over 1000 masks, 400 gloves and other PPEs.

A second donation, including 200 KN95 masks, were made to Lexington Pediatrics, one of the biggest pediatric healthcare providers in Lexington.

CALex received over overwhelmed community support with all kinds of PPE donations. They came from small donations from a large number of community members as well as shipments from overseas arrived within the past few days, some of which were not yet opened.

We greatly appreciate the outpouring of donations we have received so far and will continue our efforts to help fight the coronavirus and support our town.
