Public Writing Seminar by a Harvard Crimson Columnist

On Sunday, October 21, 2018, CALex hosted a public writing seminar at Lexington Cary Library. The speaker is Michelle Gao, a Harvard second-year student, Harvard Crimson columnist and Editorial Board member. Michelle recently has published three popular articles on Harvard Crimson about Asian identity: 1) “It’s Not Asians Who ‘Game the System”; 2) “Why I Don’t Support Identity Politics Anymore”; 3) “What College Admissions Still Needs to ‘Affirm’”

In the seminar, Michelle introduced her background and why she enjoys writing. She talked about her column and some details about the most popular parts in the articles. She explained why she thinks that writing and expressing opinions in a public forum can be an effective way to make a change in our world. She also shared her writing tips. Below is the video recording of her great talk.
