Refreshments were served and many activities were provided. Over fifty people joined the party. Both parents and kids enjoyed the party.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Saturday, March 23, 2019, several CALex community members joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carylibrary.org\/foundation\/150th-anniversary-gala\">Cary Library&#8217;s 150th Anniversary Gala<\/a>. It was a great success! \u00a0CALex is proud to be one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carylibrary.org\/foundation\/150th-anniversary-gala-event-sponsors\">event sponsors<\/a>, as we can also see CALex logo from the banner below.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Sunday, March 17, 2019, CALex hosted the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/massachusetts\/lexington\/calex-hosts-2nd-community-educational-seminar-3-17\">1st community educational seminar of 2019<\/a> on core issues overlooked in the development of Chinese American Kids presented by Dr. Shaobing Su.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Monday, March 4, 2019, six out of eight TMM (Town Meeting Member) candidates from Chinese American community won in one of the most competitive TMM elections in Lexington, MA. Among the winners, four are new members and two are incumbents.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1rem;\">On Friday, February 8, 2019, CALex hosted a dinner party to <\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/2019-chinese-new-year\/\">celebrate Chinese New Year\/Spring Festival<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 1rem;\"> with special guests from State House, Board of Selectmen and School Committee\/Administration.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Saturday, February 2, 2019, CALex will invite all candidates from two important town committees (Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board) to <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/candidates-forum-2019\/\">meet with the community members<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, CALex handed over the <span class=\"m_7741082753021776396gmail-tlid-translation m_7741082753021776396gmail-translation\"><span title=\"\">donations for a total of $4,553.63 to Cary Memorial Library Foundation to celebrate the 150th birthday of Cary Library.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_7741082753021776396gmail-tlid-translation m_7741082753021776396gmail-translation\"><span title=\"\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/cn\/community_services\/lib-150year-donation\/\">More details in Chinese<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Friday, November 30, 2018, CALex hosted a seminar to have a TMM introduction by three TMM members. Here is <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/cn\/community_services\/tmm_seminar\/\">a report in Chinese<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Sunday, October 21, 2018, CALex hosted the <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/public-writing-seminar\/\">1st community educational seminar<\/a> on\u00a0public writing seminar at Lexington Cary Library. Michelle Gao, a Harvard second-year student, Harvard Crimson columnist and Editorial Board member gave a great talk.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>On Saturday, June 9, 2018, CALex hosted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/meet-all-state-rep-candidates\/\">candidates forum<\/a> for all 5 candidates of State Rep. of Middlesex 15th district (Lexington &amp; Woburn) and Chinese American community.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #808000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In early June, 2018, CALex collected and compiled a list of over 30 service providers for <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/cn\/community_services\/afterschool\/\">after school classes and extracurricular programs<\/a>, which is loved by parents.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>On Sunday, May 13, 2018, CALex hosted an informational seminar on <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/school-volunteering-intro\/\">Volunteering at Lexington Public Schools<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Cary Library.<\/li>\n<li>On Monday, April 16,\u00a02018, CALex\u00a0completed all the preparation for 2018 Patriots\u2019 Day parade which was cancelled due to weather. <strong>CALex Logo and Banner were finalized for this event.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On Tuesday, April 3,\u00a02018, CALex was invited to a conversation on <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/demographics-diversity-retail-and-business-in-lexington\/\">Demographics &amp; Diversity: Retail and Business in Lexington<\/a> at Cary Memorial Building.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CALex hosted a <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/2018-cny-party\/\">potluck dinner and performance party<\/a> on Sunday, March 11, 2018 to celebrate Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>CALex compiled <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/elections-voting\/\">local election and voting guide<\/a>, called on Chinese Americans to know the candidates and vote on Monday, March 5, 2018.<\/li>\n<li>On Feb. 7, 2018, the\u00a0Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight voted to <a href=\"https:\/\/jenbenson.org\/2018\/02\/07\/statement-on-h-3361\/\">substitute Bill H.3361<\/a>with new legislation.<\/li>\n<li>On Feb. 3, 2018, Chinese Americans gathered at Boston Common to oppose H.3361.21. On Feb. 7, 2018, the\u00a0Joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight voted to <a href=\"https:\/\/jenbenson.org\/2018\/02\/07\/statement-on-h-3361\/\">substitute Bill H.3361<\/a> with new legislation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>On Jan. 30, 2018, nearly 1,000 Chinese Americans took a day off to attend the <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/events\/h-3361-public-hearing-1-30-2018\/\">public hearing<\/a> and\/or protest in front of the State House, the outside temperature was negative celsius degree with snow in the morning.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0On Jan. 24, 2018, the State House website announced public hearing on H.3361 and other 38 Bills from 1pm to 5pm on January 30.<\/li>\n<li>On Nov. 6, 2017, Helen Yang, then the member of town appropriation committee, gave a seminar on <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/community\/dec4-debt-exclusion-vote\/\">background information of Debt Exclusion<\/a>, which was to be voted on Dec. 4, 2017.<\/li>\n<li>From mid-October to early November 2017, CALex Board voted to elect officers for the first term and <strong>officially registered CALex as a non-profit organization<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On Oct. 17, 2017, the official website, <strong>CALexMA.org<\/strong>, for CALex went live.<\/li>\n<li>On Oct. 16, 2017, some Lexington residents attended the public hearing for Senate\/House bills.<\/li>\n<li>On Oct. 12, 2017, CALex began the first round of signature collection conducted by the WeChat group members.<\/li>\n<li>On Oct. 8, 2017, CALex announced her mission statement and 10 board members for the first term of six months.<\/li>\n<li>On Oct. 3, 2017, some Lexington residents attended a second conversation with Senator Cindy Friedman on her monthly office hours in Lexington.<\/li>\n<li>On October 2, 2017, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=f1E7TZtWOtk\">short video<\/a>\u00a0was released to promote awareness and provide information on H.3361.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 29, 2017, a special meeting on Bill H.3361 was held with State Rep. Jay Kaufman.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 29, 2017, a meeting on Bill H.3361 was conducted at the State House office of Senator Mike Barrett.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 25, 2017, an article opposing H.3361 was published on Lexington Minuteman newspaper.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 22, 2017, a Lexington constituent received a confirmation letter: Senator Mike Barrett opposes Bill H.3361!<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 21, 2017, a prototype of CALex website went live. It provided a centralized place for information and action items on H.3361 and encourage concerned residents to take actions to oppose the Bill.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 18, 2017, some Lexington residents attended Senator Cindy Friedman&#8217;s conversation in Arlington, MA.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 16, 2017, a new local organization called CALex (Chinese Americans of Lexington) was put on the table.<\/li>\n<li>On Sept. 12, 2017, a WeChat (a social media) group was formed to oppose Bill H.3361. A list of actionable items was provided to group members including signature collection, and sending emails\/calling state senators and representatives to express concerns and opposition to the Bill.<\/li>\n<li>An online survey on Bill H.3361 was conducted among Chinese Americans of Lexington. Collecting of response started at 7pm, Sept. 1, 2017 and ended at midnight, Sept. 5, 2017. Among over 300 respondents, 98% opposed Bill H.3361! View the <a href=\"https:\/\/calexma.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/H3361-SurveyResultsByLexingtonChineseCommunity-Eng4.pdf\">survey report<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Lexington residents have been closely following the development of Bill H.3361 since it was proposed early 2017. Local volunteers have arranged meeting with legislators, attended multiple rallies against H.3361 at the MA State House, Convention center during the NCSL Legislative Summit, and at the Boston Common.<\/li>\n<li>Bill <a href=\"\/about_h3361\/\">H.3361<\/a> was proposed by State Representative Tackey Chan.
